The Stupidest Kind of Plagiarism

Copying on Twitter is beyond silly. it’s flat out stupid.

Twitter has a tool for that: It’s called a retweet. Find something you find funny that you want to share with your friends? Retweet it! Don’t copy and paste it.

Yes, lots of idiots do that. But it doesn’t make it right, particularly when you end every one of your posts with “Copying makes me sad.”

Also, you don’t need to tweet every day to keep your “brand” alive. Tweet when you have something to say, lest you fall into this trap of copy-and-pasting instead of retweeting so it looks like you have some streak you’re keeping up.

Just damned silly to get yourself in so much trouble like that.

Also, this is the internet. The Internet is a pretty good place to search for text when you copy something verbatim. There’s no place to hide. Regular Expressions beat you to that a loooong time ago.

Avengers Assemble!

Saw this in Times Square today. Does Disney own Sesame Street, too, or just the Muppets? This COULD be the cast of Avengers 2, though I suspect better footwear and manbags might be present in the movie.

Myrtle Beach, Sunrise

Only without the sun….

This year, I chose to forego waking up early every morning to attempt a sunrise shot, in favor of actually getting sleep on a vacation.

July 4th Fireworks for 2013

Caught a fireworks show over the weekend. Big fireworks, close shooting location. I was very proud of the shots I took at the end where I pulled the camera back and brought the crowd into the picture. Look carefully and you’ll see where on the lawn the fireworks were landing. That’s pretty cool.

Mountain Lion/Lightroom Update

Time to update the previous post:

I fixed the problem? How? Oldest trick in the book: I rebooted the computer.

Whatever was stuck in the system got cleared out by the reboot and now everything works fine.

Had I been a Windows user, I probably would have thought of that first. ::sigh::

Lightroom 3 and Mountain Lion

I’m having a bit of a problem with Lightroom 3 tonight, and I wonder if it’s not due to my recent switch from Lion to Mountain Lion.

I can plug a memory card into the SD slot on my iMac. Lightroom recognizes it and shows me all the pictures on it. When I go to copy the files over and import them, though, I get this error message:

Anyone else have this problem? The solution might be to upgrade to LR4, but I’d rather not spend that nearly $100 right now…
